This ambitious move, according to Insomniac founder Pasquale Rotella, aims to address the festival's congestion issues and make ticket prices more accessible. The expanded schedule, spanning from May 13th to May 24th, 2027, will be divided into three distinct phases: Dusk (May 14-16), Dawn (May 21-23), and the comprehensive Dusk Till Dawn Experience (May 13-24).
This expansion is a response to the growing popularity and perceived overcrowding of the festival. Longtime attendee Kobee Acosta, who has been to EDC Las Vegas nine times since 2017, echoes this sentiment. Acosta highlights the festival's intense atmosphere, noting that while it's incredibly captivating, it can also feel cramped. The change to a longer format is expected to alleviate these congestion concerns, providing a more enjoyable experience for attendees.
The benefits of this expansion extend beyond the festival grounds. Businesses like Maverick Helicopters, which provides shuttle and sightseeing flights over the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, anticipate a significant boost in activity. Bryan Kroten, vice president of marketing, predicts an increase in helicopter usage from one during the initial year to over 25 in the current year, showcasing the festival's rapid growth and its positive impact on local businesses.
Hotels and downtown properties are also gearing up for the surge in visitors. Westgate is excited to welcome more attendees, leveraging the opportunity to support the Victoria's Voice Foundation in its mission to prevent opioid deaths. Downtown businesses, such as El Cortez, anticipate increased occupancy and economic activity, with restaurants, nightclubs, and shopping venues poised to thrive during the extended festival period.
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is optimistic about the festival's expansion, anticipating a significant boost in tourism numbers for May 2027.
